BF coming this weekend.

Been looking for something simple to cook for supper.

Either I take my pals out ... or I have them over and cook for them ... which can be a bit hit and miss.

Anyway, I've found this Jamie recipe ... Spaghetti alla Puttanesca.

I mean ... puttanesca ... seriously?

Why is it called that?

I'm hoping that it's not because of the tuna.

It looks quite simple, though.

I thought it was called that because it meant even a wh0re could cook it it's so simple. Like a wh0re in the kitchen and a cook in bed sort of thing.

Take them out. You know it makes sense from all sides.
It's said to be the breakfast a night worker would make for herself on returning home.

I'd have settled for a Danish pastry if I'd been "working" all night.

snags ... It's probably safer. I just don't want them to think I'm completely useless. Even though they already do.

Really, Sandy? Why on earth would anyone want to eat a breakfast of olives, chilli, capers, anchovy, etc? Unless you really wanted to get rid of an even worse taste in your mouth. OK, forget I just said that

Ooh, Shari ... that's sounding very plausible.

Easier said than done, Kiki.

I think the simple logic of Shari's answer is appealing.

Can you toast bruschetta?
Name derives from fact that the ladies of the night arrived home when shops were closed and so all the ingredients can be found in the store cupboard.
JJ, can the boyfriend cook? Ask him what he feels like eating (besides you, I know you would be his response :)
Get the ingredients and you both prepare the meal together.
Question Author
danny ... that sounds plausible, too.
That explanation came from my Italian wife many moons ago.

society ...

The image of domestic harmony, the two of us peeling and chopping and mixing, with an affectionate kiss each time we passed each other ...

Would, in reality involve ...

Dropping and spilling, burning, scraping off, throwing away, swearing at each other, getting trolleyed, and then phoning around to see if anywhere had a table available at short notice.

Let's just say we're not enthusiastic cooks.
