I use I-Player quite a lot on my laptop and have seen the recent TV adverts about watching it on your TV. They mentioned needing a set top box-does this include the Sky Box? Will there be a channel included specifically for BBC I-Player does anyone know? If not I'm not too worried as I don't mind watching via my laptop but would be interested to know what it will entail.

Plug your laptop in to your TV and the picture on your laptop will be shown on the TV screen.
It looks like a lot of faffing about, especially as you can do all that it provides for no extra money whatsoever. Who wants yet another black box gathering dust under the TV ! ::

1....BBC i player, and the equivalent for other TV stations, like Channel 4. You can watch watch this in seconds on any PC in Britain with a WiFi connection. Its completely FREE...all you need to be legal is a TV license.

2....As FHG suggests, if you want to watch on your own TV, just connect the laptop, or desktop into the appropriate socket on your TV and away you go.

3...Try this :::

You can watch almost every TV station with this little jobby, on any computer, for FREE ! It even works on my Samsung Galaxy TAB 7 inch, and my iphone 4.

Hope this helps !
What type of cable would be needed to connect a lap top to a TV please?
anotheoldgit:
That depend upon what output and input options are available on your laptop and TV respectively. I suggest trying a new post, telling us what ports there are on your laptop and what input sockets there are on your TV. (Modern laptops and TVs are likely to only need a fairly cheap cable whereas older devices might also require a gizmo for converting the signal).
my laptop connects to TV via HDMI cable from Tesco. You need to check your laptop has HDMI port and also your TV.
Well it's a channel on its own on my BT vision box.
