Is your Panasonic a DVD or a hard drive recorder, or both?
Question Author
It is a DVD recorder with in built Hard Drive which I can play back on T/V
( T/V also used as P/C monitor with SVGA cable link )

Sorry, Ron - can you clarify - does it record to a DVD disk?

Secondly, is there any reason you can't record directly on to your pc and burn to a cd that way?
Question Author
It will record to a DVD disc but NOT a CD disc.
Not sure how to record directly to PC.

Have you got Windows Media Center on your pc?
You could record what is playing on your PC using the free software Audacity. It can be a bit fiddly to set up though. Instructions are in the link below but the basic are

(a) get it to recognise whatever’s playing through your speakers
(b) tweak the recording levels a bit until you are happy
(c) play the programme on iplayer and hit record.

You’ll then get an audio file saved somewhere that you could burn to CD if you wanted

Thanks hc4361 & Hammer. I must confess I had completely forgotten about Audacity, cheers guys.

If you have Windows Media Center you get a proper EPG guide similar to what you get on your tv and you can program it record radio shows in advance,
