Printer and speakers on windows 7

I have just had a new Motherboard fitted by the slowest computer repair man ,I told him just give me back my desktop and I will sort out the printer and the speakers,I have failed !!!help please I have a Epsom Stylus SX218 printer and a cheapo pair of speakers with just 2 leads one a USB cable the other light green ,I think I have put them in the correct holes but my PC is not picking them up.
your help please

If you right click on the speaker icon on the bottom right of your screen (next to the clock) and then click on Playback Devices you will find another speaker icon which should have a green tick at the side of it. If not, click on it and then click "Enable".
