Mobile phone - what have I done?

I was playing with my mobile phone as (as everyone will already know) I am hopeless with technical things. I was trying to see what I could do with it and consequently was pressing different buttons to see what would happen. It is a TTfone with large numerals and when I am putting in the number it tells me in one of those funny android voices what number I have put in. After a while it played a little tune and large letters came up on the screen - unfortunately I didn't notice what the letters were. I pressed the green button to see what it was and the whole thing went blank. I have pressed several buttons since to see what would happen and it is still completely blank. Have I broken it completely? I put it on charge every night and leave it all night so I don't think it is that. Can someone please help?

OMG, all the lights around here have gone out... sirens are sounding... was it a red button?

Tee-hee jno. I pressed all of them, including the red one. To be serious, it is a bit of a bind as I have no other way of keeping in contact with my daughter - she never reads her emails so even if I send one I know it won't get read. As I am (slightly) dependent on her I really need it. At the moment I am living in rented accommodation until the building work on my bungalow has been done (two months now but it keeps raining and the main job is the roof) and there is no house phone.
jno
yes it was this one

Try taking the battery out and switching back on again

gawd Star..I'm laughing again (sorry) is this a new one?
Have you tried simply turning it on? You may have switched it off.
Failing that, battery out and leave it for 5 minutes then try again.
Check your instructions to see if there's a reset function.
Call the supplier in the morning.
Good luck. :)

Thanks slackalice - you had me really laughing there. No way you can stay serious for long on AnswerBank is there. Now - if I can only work out how to get the battery out I will try what you have suggested.
Press and HOLD the RED key.

Cross fingers.

Or RTBM as my son would say. For the uninitiated that means Read The Bloody Manual. I couldn't get the battery out so I searched for the instruction manual and lo and behold in the troubleshooting section there was the answer to my problem and now I am back on (phone) line. Thanks a lot for your help and support and for making me laugh everyone.

Mark, if I had read your answer before I found the manual I would have been back on that much sooner because your answer was, as usual, exactly right. Thanks again everyone (from a panicky old lady)
When I get called Mark (as has happened several times before) I'm left wondering whether I'm being confused with MarkRae or with ChuckFickens (whose real name is Mark).

Either way, it's a compliment!

Sorry Chris, I don't know why I did that - I know perfectly well what your name is and I have seen you called Mark before so I know what you mean. Must have been all the excitement - gave me another senior moment.
