i have an icon in the top left hand corner of my samsung galaxy ace GTS5830, it is a padlock with a down pointing arrow, what does it mean? how do you remove it?, also in my text message contact box all the contacts are duplicated, any body know how to resolve?

OK, the padlock icon maybe something to do with the touchscreen being locked, the down arrow indicated your are downloading data, possibly an update to an app. Can't help you with your 3rd query. You can download a .pdf of your phones manual her...that might help.

To remove icons unlock screen and then where the icons are pull your finger downwards it will reveal a screen that lists any alerts you have, there should be a button on the screen that says clear, that will remove them.
