Might be better to have a gender symbol by the user name it would prevent a few oooops moments...

I don't think it is needed as such, but can prevent you putting your foot in it, especially in sensitive threads.

Yes, because we have an option of not filling it in.
Is any of the info that shows particularly relevant?
no...
Does no harm & can be helpful - assuming the user is truthful, else "hilarious" consequences might result...
just checked you were not a closet lioness in which case I withdraw my offer of mane ruffling
I'm all lion - ruffle away :-))
see Ed it helps.... ruffle ruffle
Certainly does - purrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

"Is any of the info that shows particularly relevant?"

I think the "last activity" can be handy.

The symbol is a good idea.
No, I cannot see the point as in probably 95% of the cases, the answers and posts make it quite clear which gender we are dealing with.

In the 5% where it says "not set" or where the ABer is clearly being untruthful, then it is no help.

In my opinion it is of limited or questionable value.
or a pink/blue frame round the avatars maybe yellow for those unwilling to commit
Sqad is really Gladys Williams a shop worker from Llanelli
Gladys has an encyclopaedic medical knowledge for a shop worker. Failed nurse is she? :-)
Struck off the register in 1968 for conduct unbecoming...

The symbol is good because it doesn't take up much room, everyone understands it, and we can simply not show it if the information is unavailable.
