Itunes onto Samsung Gallaxy mini

I have recently bought a samsung gallaxy mini, I mainly use the mp3 player to listen to podcasts while at work. I was downloading some music onto it today and it let me load music from I tunes. How come? I didnt think you could download music from Itunes unless it was onto an Ipod or similar apple device. Certainly hasn't ever let me download music onto my generic MP3 player before.

Just wondering. T.I.A.
