I want to turn a multiple page document into an A5 booklet. Is there such a program out there to do this that is reasonably cheap as it will probably be a one off.

Thanks

What program was the document created in?

sorry should have said...It's a word doc
Can you not just go to page set up and alter size of page?
Or if you have publisher, that would work.
Does this help????

You might have to scroll down a bit to find your exact requirements..

Not very clued up on technology, sorry, (old person syndrome!) just thought as there seems to be programs out there for everything else - there may just be one for what I want.
How many copies do you want to make - could you play the 'clueless' card and get a photocopying place to turn it into a booklet for you?
Question Author
Thanks 'boxtops' I'll keep that in mind, but it was more of a 6-12 page booklet I was looking for rather than a copied page, though this will be useful also.
You take your printed a4 sheets to Staples and ask them to produce you an a5 comb bound book, it costs a couple of quid.

Thanks sherrardk & woofgang, Its something sentimental that I really wanted to produce myself, it means a lot to me if I can do this via my own effort rather than get a shop to do it. (with a little help from my friends, that is :)
You could faff around printing pages out and then turning the paper around, etc - might cost a bit in ink (and temper) though.

Ha Ha! Ink & temper under control, how do I faff...
The computer printer (a RICOH model) in our office does this as a setup option - for example it offers portrait, landscape, and double-sided, but the two you'd be interested in are 'paper saving' which is every four A4 document pages printed half-size onto both sides of an A4 sheet, and 'booklet' which is the same idea but all the pages re-ordered so that the output is ready for folding and stapling. All you need is an e-mail friend who works in an office with one of these. But if you can't find one, that's how a copy shop would do it for you; no program, all done in the printer itself.
I assume you mean that each page is A5 size. Does your printer do duplex? That means print on both sides of a sheet automatically.

Thanks bert_h & howard, I take it i'm looking for a program that doesn't exist then (sorry, wish to god I could keep up with technology).

Thanks for all help - much appreciated x
You'll get there in the end, hope it's appreciated.
To make your own booklet... Set your word document up in A4 page size and set to landscape orientation with two columns, that will give you x pages of A5 text.

Fold two A4 blank papers in half and place into each other like a book. You now have 4 double sided pages (8 pages of text). for 12 pages of text fold three papers etc. Look how many A5 pages your document has turned into - say 6, this will leave the front and back blank. Write a number on each page of your folded 'book', you will now know which pages will need to be printed on the same A4 paper - eg. 2 goes with 5 etc.

Now you can start a new word document and set up the same; A4 landscape 2 columns with the appropriate margins. Then copy each page from the previous document to the new one in proper order; page 2 on the right side of the paper and 5 on the left etc.

You can now easily print out the pages and staple the two together and fold. You've now made a small booklet. More pages (in multiples of four) are easily added.

It seems a lot of work but it is really easy and quick.
We did do it for my Grandson, it was a lot easier than I expected. I hope this helps

Good Luck
Wildwood - it would be great to use your idea here at home - so just HOW do you get Word to put the image of an A4 portrait page into the A5 half of a landscape page?
The A4 page is in two columns so just copy the text from the half of the A4 that you need and paste in into the A5.
