lol, r u being sarcastic, coz personally i think u hav to b real bored and b able to deal with big words, plus im sure it makes them feel intelligent and important.

Suppose you were n't all that good at anything,  except the gift of the gab, and you wanted a good life, with a chance to go higher if you get taken up by the right people .....suppose you wanted a good salary, pension, expenses, long holidays, lots of socialising (subsidised) ...  ..

Why does anyone do any job? Money, power, a sense of giving something back to the world? I'd also imagine women become politicians for similar reasons.
The money isn't all that great in politics - more than teachers get, but lawyers, for instance, are likely to see their pay cut; and yet still they want the job. Power, maybe; not many get it, even when they're elected, but they do get the feeling they're helping to shape the country's future. And QmunkE's quite right, a wish to help people is often part of it, a much bigger part, I should say, than greed.
Men and women choose to enter politics for any number of reasons. Some for the possibility of fame. Some because they like the idea of power. Some because they believe that they know what is best for their constituency/country/ the world and want to make a difference. Some because the skills they have suit them to that type of job. Some because it is almost the equivalent to entering the family business if they come from very political families...
