Sony Ericsson W205 ringtone problems...

helloo. i have a Sony Ericsson W205 phone, and for as long as i've had it, i've been able to use any mp3 track that i've transfered onto my phone as a ringtone or message tone.
but i transfered a song onto my phone today, and it hasn't let me use it as a ringtone - it just intanstly defaults back to the "Sony Ericsson" tone. i tried using other tracks that had already been on my phone, and the song i had previously been using as my ringtone, and none of them worked, just went straight back to default. they don't seem to work as message tones either.
does anyone know how i can fix this?
