I have reinstalled my XP OS but instead of it overwriting the old damaged copy it has installed a second version.  i now get the black screen when booting up which lets me select a version.  This has obviously used alot of my disk space and my machine is dead slow.

i dont mind reinstalling it again but dont wanna end up with a third copy

help please !!!  : - (

Backup any data you want, then when you go to reinstall, make sure you delete the old partitions and reformat the drive. Then you can be sure you don't get any left overs.
