Can anyone please tell me how to stop the FireFox up date page from loading on top of my homepage, when I start FireFox 9.0.1?

Try comparing all your startup setting with mine.
In FF type about:config and aggre to the warning.
In the filter, type startup
compare what you see in there with this:

Obviously, the first entry should point to your won choice of startup page.

Thanks for replying rojash

Yes mine is almost the same as yours except of course for my homepage, and the fact that I do not have the three extensions, instead I have,

dwhelper.startup-timer button
dwhelper.startup-timer widgets
Sorry AOG.
When diagnosing a software problem, the first thing I attempt to do is duplicate the fault. Well I've tried tweaking every likely value in the config settings and in the various ini files, and am still unable to duplicate it, so at the moment I'm out of ideas.

Thanks anyway rojash for going to so much trouble on my behalf.

Would you advice me to delete Firefox and then download it again?
