Stolen xbox points

When I logged onto my xbox today a message flashed up saying my gamertag had be logged onto another console.

As I never do this it raised suspicion. Immediately I checked my account, yes its been cleared of some 3500 ms points.

How is this possible? I guess if someones hacked my email/password associated with XBL then they could do this.

How do I go about securing my account, and is there a way of finding anything about where the points went?

If you logon to xbox.com you can go to your download history and see what happened. You can also set-up additional passwords.

A few years back occasionally I would be playing to be signed-out and told that I had logged in on another console. As I simply logged straight back in no harm was done.

Not sure what someone would gain by using your points tho.

Looks like someone has used it to download Fifa 12 and 12 months of gold subs.

I got in contact with microsoft and they're looking into it. If they prove I have been scammed then I'll get the points back. As I got a load for Christmas I had about 3200 stolen. Ironically before Christmas I've never bothered with ms points!
Maybe they can download games onto their console using my gamertag and then play the game using their profile? Not quite sure how the xbl subs would work though, surely if it was purchased using my points and my tag then its not portable to a different gamertag?

I'd reccommend anyone to check their settings on the xbox console you can set it to always ask for a password when logging in either on another console or your own one.

You can also change your password in the settings. This will change the password to the email account you have associated your gamertag with.
Theres also the fact that people get social engineered and reveal passwords without realising it to other people or come across a scam and think thats a a good deal and click the link and enter gamertag and password and all points are gone. Theres also the fact that peple could have keyloggers on the PC.

No the subs aren't transferrable from 1 account to another. Ive been on LIVE for years and not yet been scammed in anyway
Coincidently xbox is rife of people being hacked at the moment, although MS have not officially come forward and said "our bad". That said though almost 97% of the problem is not theirs anyway.
