Can't say for sure but would imagine you buy at apple, to get a free one on contract you would have to go to phone providers, Orange, Vodaphone etc.

They will only sell you one. But if you buy a contract and get it for "free" you can pop around the corner to the Apple shop and they will help you set it up. I wouldn't go this week though, it will be rammed.
