We have an old tv (10 years old) which has only one tuner. So, if we bought a digital tv recorder with freeview plus, which has twin tuners (is that right?) would it work with our tv and would we be able to watch one programme and record a different one at the same time? I'm a techno-duffer, so plain English, please...smile. Ta Muchly.

Yes
Yes, no problem at all.

You really need at least a SCART AV in on the TV tho .. which you connect output TV Scart from the integrated freeview recorder to.
Check if your TV Scart accepts RGB on the Scart AV input .. and if it does, use that after selecting in menu .. and checking in the recorder video output settings too.

Many Thanks Al...I understood your Yes, but not the rest, could you simplify - I know we'll need a scart box, cos we've got a separate dvd player and separate video.
That was simple ..

Check Recorder/Freeview for two scarts .. TV out .. connect to TV.
VCR Scart / Connect to video.
No scart box needed in this case.

If you do not have the extra scart .. you could use a 3-way scart lead.
Hi Woodelf

First of all, does your TV have SCART socket(s)? These are the large rectangular ones with 2 rows of 10 pins. Size is approx 45 x 15 mm.
If it does how many does it have?

Howie
Our friend already mentioned a Scart box .. so he must know what a scart is.

Hi Howie, tv has only one scart socket. Al, what's RGB as in 'your tv accepts RBG...' etc...but Many Thanks though.
It's a tv video format .. rather than composite .. or S Video .. or digital signal (HDMI) Where the video is split into Red Green Blue.
Use it if possible. Carried in a fully wired scart lead.
