I am using a very old version of FireFox on my computer, along with numerous add-ons which I find useful.

But I wish to try the latest version to see if I can also take advantage of these add-ons.

Would it be possible to also download the latest version for use, while still retaining my original one on my desk top?

I don't think you can have two different versions on the same user account. It's probably best to just go into the add-ons section and search for those you want to use - each add-on tells you which versions of Firefox they are compatible with.

It would probably be best to update Firefox to the latest version anyway, if only for the extra stability/bug fixes/security improvements that it offers.
you can always turn off compatability checking of add-ons
Yes youc an run two versions at once.

Either (the hard way) create two firefox profiles and set each one to use it's own profile.

Or, the easy way, use the portable version of the new one which automatically uses a self contained profile.

"you can always turn off compatability checking of add-ons"
Though that wouldn't guarantee that they'd work.

I doubt that you have any really unusual add-ons. Why not just post a list, and we''l check them in the latest version for you?
Hi AOG.....Do as rojash has suggested and post a list of your 'add-ons'.

I know very little about computers. However, I am able to report that a week ago I up-dated to Firefox 7.0.1 and the few 'add-ons', which I had, are still working o.k. (WOT; British English Dictionary; Flagfox; and Adblock plus.) Although I have never had success on AB with Adblock. If I engage it, I get a blank page (apart from a list of Topics down the left hand side of the screen) and nothing moves on screen from that position.

Thanks for your answers, here is a list of my Add-Ons.

Ask & Record Tool Bar
AVG Safe Search
AVG security Toolbar
British English Dictionary
Case Changer
Download Helper
FireFox Synchronisation Extension
Freecorder Community Toolbar
Google Toolbar for FireFox
Reminder Fox
Youtube Video Download Wizard
Hi again AOG.....I regret that I am unable to be of any real assistance to you because I am not a 'techie'. Nevertheless, as I learn a lot from answers which are given on AB, I am hoping that further comments will be forthcoming from earlier respondents.

Incidentally,I am surprised that your list off 'add-ons' does not include WOT
(Web of Trust) which I consider to be most useful if purchasing 'on-line'.

What does the Ask and Record Toolbar do?
Why have you got 3 video downloaders?
Very interesting questions barry.

Hi again,

The Ask and Record Toolbar is most useful, it has a search box, it will save videos, record audio, convert them, and play them.

Where the Youtube Video Download Wizard, or Download Helper came from, I just don't know, I have never used them.
Well you will glad to know it is still available and is compatible with the latest Firefox.
