iMac Master password loss

I am wondering if anyone can help me.

I have an old iMac that was released in Summer 2000 and is now discontinued.

I have a model number which is m5521

My problem is that I have lost the main administrator password for my mac and now cannot access the master desk top.

Is there any way I can reset the system without erasing any of my software. I don't mind if dcouments are lost in the process.

Is there a manual available online for the model too?

I appreciate any help.
