Just bought the wife..ipad 2 wifi and 3G.

Works well in hot spots but at home it refuses to connect with the internet.
I have a router which it picks up and displays, but the "locked" icon is present and stops the internet connection.

How do I unlock it?

Thanks wolf...........:-(
Doesn't it prompt you to enter a password when you select the wireless network?
its should ask for your wireless password, sqad. Enter that and it should connect automatically in future.
Dare I say "nothing to worry about- just keep an eye on it"?
Thought not!

Evain/recrx........it did in the cafe this morning and I entered the password and it worked well.

Got home, it recognized the router but there is no place for a password (which will be the router password I imagine)
gingejbee, i think you meant "no big deal" ;)

sqad, from what i see from my iphone (ipad is not here at mo) you need settings> wifi> choose a network (click on your one) and it should then just ask for password.
Just a thought, without trying to sound patrionising - it's a mistake I made a while ago.

When you get the list of wireless networks, when you want to select the one you want touch where the writing is - don't touch the > on the right hand side. If you touch the arrow it just gives you details and doesn't ask for the password.
red: I DID mean "no big deal". Thankyou!

When you tap on the network connection hold your finger on it for a short while instead of just a quick tap, this is what I have to do.
there is a place to put the passcode to your wireless network, go into settings>general>network>wifi> it will pull up all the available routers, click on your router and it should ask you for a code.

unless you have a very old router that may not recognise the higher newer security levels
Just a thought and I may be wrong, but surely Apple must offer some sort of support like they do on the imac when you purchase one. I found them extremely helpful when I was setting up my imac. I shall be getting an ipad very shortly so hopefully I will not have the same problems with my Bt Homehub.

Enjoy.
