My old ms dos program will not put data out of comm port 1on my new laptop running XP pro? please help!

can I remove c:\windows\system\sh33w32.dll?

Windows XP doesn't have DOS as we remember it, it uses a 'DOS' shell this looks and feels like DOS but it's just emulating it. I would contact the suppliers of the DOS based program and upgrade it to a version that is XP compatable.
