I know I'm using compatible inks and I know I'm also printing on a cheaper brand of paper which MIGHT be the reason that the ink appears to be "sitting" on the surface in certain areas rather than going into it Is there a way of changing the printer settings that would overcome this problem or at least improve the print-out??? Thanks!!

You sure it's not laser paper you are using? That's terrible for dring standard inks on!
There are water-based inks .. and spirit based. Many aftermarket 'compatibles' can be either, and many have drying time problems. Try economy printing or try Inksaver .. http://www.amazon.co....Saver-2/dp/B0002KEYM8

Hi Al,it's Polaroid paper for ink jet printers. Before I try Inksaver is the economy printing something that is already installed,if so where would that setting be please? Thanks!!
In the printer settings as you are going to print ... or you can set economy as a default printing template (in properties)
