Can you recommend a good smartphone please?

I currently have a Samsung Europa i5500. It is a great phone, but I have this problem with receiving multiple texts and sometimes not receiving texts at all for hours.

It is a know problem with this model and I need a phone that I know will get texts through to me straight away, so am thinking of buying another smartphone - I don't want a contract, just pay as you go.

Can you recommend a good one - price can be probably up to £150, maybe £200.

Have you updated it to the latest software? it cured mine of the same problem. (apart from multiple o2 service messages)

And android 2.2 runs a lot faster on them than the 2.1 they come with.

sony ericson xperia is nice and i've never had a problem with not receiving text messages on time.
