trackball on a blackberry...what position?

i have a blackberry curve 8900...and i removed the trackball to clean and dry it, but now im not sure which way round it goes back in...i have put it in with the gold coloured connector pointing downwards and it works but its a bit temperamnetal....

does anyone know, or know of a diagram etc that will show me which way round to put it?
i dont want to have to keep dismantling it and trying it all ways to find the best way, as its already a bit fragile and dont want to risk damaging it
