do you search via google, or by typing the site name into the URL box?
I have experienced this since getting a new laptop with windows 7 OS and IE9 installed. Nothing stops it - I have simply got into the habit of refreshing the page and hey presto, the wesite was available after all. So when it happens try pressing refresh and see what happens.

are you wireless?

I do that Mosaic, but what a nuisance.

Wireless? No.
I tend to use Google if I am searching for a new page - if it's one I use often, I save the link in my Favourites, saves a lot of trouble.
I ask because when I've had this issue it's because I have had both wireless and wired options going at the same time and the PC tries to use the option that it hasnt been set up to use

No idea if that is what your issue is but it's all in the control panel - sure someone will be along to help properly as I wouldn't be able to explain it lol
I agree it's a nuisance. I find all of IE9 a nuisance. But I can't open my email on chrome, so tend to go with the flow.
we've had this trouble for a couple of weeks now, the internet switches to local access only, or goes off completeley.
We rang virgin yesterday and apparantly, it's at their end.
that's what it says for me as well Crisgal, or it did anyway until I had the wireless option disabled in my pc. Was nowt to do with VM

And I`m now with SKY, so it`s not that. CHRIS, CHUCK, ETC, get your brains in gear and get out of bed.
