What do I need to download on my PC to open a PDF?

Also can someone be kind enough to provide a link for this.

go into control panel and 'set associations' and choose programme to open it
You need Adobe Reader. If it's not already on your PC you can download it for free http://get.adobe.com/reader/
There are a few free programs .. like Foxit ...
Adobe Reader is the standard one.
Be sure to uncheck anything else these wants to give you on selection.

As other say - you need Adobe - my laptop is a weird work one, and I can only open .pdf documents if I have Adobe open on my machine.
I'd second the foxit reader suggestion.

Adobe reader is far too bloated and slow for the simple job it does, foxit is a far faster and more streamlined reader.
