If the Gadaffi regime falls is there any chance that the gunman who killed Yvonne Fletcher will be brought to justice, or did the diplomatic immunity he enjoyed then still protect him?

That's up to the new regime but I imagine it's already been discussed and hlly the killer will stand trial along with other terrorists.

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is diplomatic immunity? I have heard it mentioned in the film Lethal Weapon 2 but not exactly sure what it is.

Can anyone explain it for us all? Does this means that people get away with murder, then?
