Entering an equation into OpenOffice spreadsheet

I'm trying to enter the following equation into a cell:

=square root (CellH2 squared X CellH3 squared)

but I don't know how to enter the square root or squared symbols. Anybody able to help?

Is there a^ sign. Squaring cell A4 for example can be =A4^2
Square root of A4 would be =A4^0.5
so in your case can you do =(H2^2)*(H3^0.5)?

Square may be SQR
Squareroot may be SQRT
Sorry misread your formula
Try =(H2^2*H3^2)^0.5

I tried '=(H2^2*H3^2)^0.5' but it's giving me a number far greater than what the answer is. Thanks for your help anyway, I'll play about with it and see if I can sort it out.
What numbers did you use in cells H2 and H3?

Try inserting more brackets:
==((H2^2)*(H3^2))^0.5
=SQRT(SQRT(H2)/SQRT(H3))
sorry... I meant

=SQRT(SQRT(H2)*SQRT(H3))
Just try out each bit separately to see what works
e.g. Try 5^2 to see if that gives 25, then try 9^0.5 to see if it gives 3
Hi chuck- I understood the H2 and H3 cells were to be squared not square rooted.
Oh yeah.... silly me :)

The value of the cells are:

H2 - 153
H3 - 114

and I know the the diagonal should be 190 but the figure I'm getting is nowhere near that.
=SQRT((H2^2)*(H3^2))

Yeah, sorry I'm trying to find the diagonal length of a rectangle, where H2 is width and H3 is height.
You add, not multiply to get the diagonal, so

=SQRT((H2^2)+(H3^2))

=SQRT((H2^2) + (H3^2)) and not *

will all depend on brackets try SQRT((H2*H2)*(H3*H3))
