My laptop insisted on installing windows 9 and got rid of my favourites bar in the process. Is there anything I can do to get it back? Please bear in mind I don't know the first thing about computers. Thank you very much.

Think you mean Internet explorer 9!

View menu > toolbars and select favourites.

If you cant see the menus press alt and they will pop up (you can also select view > toolbars > menu to make it show all the time if you need to do this)

Thank you all.
My advice to you is to uninstall it as it has issues running on Vista and untill they can fix the issues. If you go to www.leonotenboom.com he has an excellent article on the dos and donts of IE9 and explains it in simple terms. I have had to uninstall from two of my learners computers because of issues.
