do you have an account with them, or set one up, as they usually send you a e mail to verify, if you have just opened one.
I'd go to the Amazon website direct and do it through the 'my account' tab.
Ive been with them for years, never asked me. Go to your account and see if its the right one, if it is, ignore or send them an e-mail to see if they have sent it.

sounds bogus. I have never had one of these. Approach with extreme caution. If you do open it, try finding the exact address of the sender.
Any legitimate email from Amazon will address you by name, they never say 'dear customer' or similar. They also NEVER ask you to verify your details via email.
