I have a Sony RDR-HXD DVD Recorder, could anyone please tell me if it is normal for the display ie time, to be very dimly illuminated?

It has been so, since when I first purchased it.

Either design ... night illumination sensor failed .. or dimmed through age.
The old fl. blue digital type were pretty crappy.
Take your pick!
Look in other settings (options) and you can adjust the front panel display brightness.

Well according to page 141 of the manual you can...

Thanks for all your answers, especially to you Chuck, although my Front Panel Display is on a different page in my manual, it actually says "Adjusts the lighting of the front panel display".

ON : Bright lighting

OFF: Turns off the lightning when the power is off.

I will give it a try, thanks once again.
