I've lost the sound on my lappy!

not sure why, it was okay yesterday and I've not fiddled with any settings. nothing seems to be muted, but there's an icon (IDT Audio Settings) on my taskbar that I don't recall seeing before.. still not set to "mute".

it's an HP Pavilion something or other! can find the model if it's essential.

any ideas, please?

oh crap.. someone had to ask!

I re-booted it about 4 times as the fan was going wild trying to cool it down (not sure why), swore quite a lot.. eventually left it off for about half an hour (to cool right down) then.. hey presto, we have sound!

I think it was the swearing that did it, snags ;o)
