eMachine desk top computer

The computer gives an intermittent beeping noise when switched on, The monitor shows the eMachine logo but nothing happens. I have tried switching off at the mains but makes no difference.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That's probably the start-up BIOS warning code for a failure of some kind.
Check here first and then try to count the number/type of code sounded.

Make sure keyboard and mouse are connected ok.

Tested mouse and keyboard connections and a boot screen appeared.Worked my way through this and computer now works. Many thanks.

The beep you hear on startup is the RAM chips being activated no need for alarm nothing is wrong this is normal . I have a learner with one of the same computers.

'RAM chips being activated' is not a bad way to describe (part of) POST to a non-techie.
