Elsewhere, someone mentioned Iron - it's a cut down version of Chrome - so I thought I'd give it a try - but it doesn't display anything, in fact no page source code is downloaded whichever site I use.

It's using the same settings as Chrome, which does work properly, so anyone got any ideas? Anyone even tried it?

I downloaded it from here http://www.srware.net...tware_srware_iron.php

Can't help you I'm afraid, first time I'd heard of that browser!

But just checked up on it and I will check it out, the Chrome rendering engine is actually a very good one, good to see it's being used without all the google crap and with the privacy problems removed!
though surely they have skipped a version here..... should it be call manganese?
