I would like to register www.helpers.org.uk as my domain name. I am told the name is registered, but it's not active - nothing comes up when I put it into Internet Explorer. How do I find out who owns it?

it's not the most helpful whois result I've ever seen!

Does it have to be that exact domain that you have, the following are still available

helpers.uk.com
helpers.uk.net
helpers.eu.com
helpers.us.com
helpers.gb.com

thanks for your help guys. I already have helpers.me.uk, but for a charity-type organisation org.uk is the "best" , and if it's sitting doing nothing...
The chances of a single word domain name still being available is slim to say the least.

This site holds some useful informations about the domain name and the site which provides this domain name. Check out this site for sure.

And another helpful site

http://www.whois.net/
What about Alexa, does this site not do the same thing?

You can locate the owner of a domain name by doing Whois.net search. It will help you to know about the registration information, their admin and referral URLs. But as you are looking to register such domain and not finding the space then why not to choose country specific domains? Sites like https://domainia.com/location-domain-names and many others offer country specific domains like .uk, .london that will serve your purpose and you will get the specific domain name that you want. I hope you understand my point, if not then let me know….

After 5½ years I doubt he's still interested, but then ... .. .
