Ads on Windows messenger

I use windows messenger to chat to some friends and family however recently links to advertising sites have started to be sent between us even though none of us have sent them.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so, is there anything I can do to block them?

I have experienced the same since downloading the new msn messenger asking me to update it if I didnt MSN was not going to work properly. I was going to put the same as you. Now not going to download on other PCs
