The easiest solution is to decrease the screen resolution.

Right click on the desktop where there are no icons and click properties then the setting tab. Move the screen resolution slider to the left.

Usually 800 x 600 is as low as you can practically go but 1024 x 768 is preferable.

Can you afford a bigger screen? 19 inch LCDs are the new entry level and quite affordable for most people.

Thank you B worked fine a little bit elongated but ok.
Thinking of a 19" would wide screen be better?
Changing the screen resolution is not really the best solution if you are on a TFT (flat) screen as they are built to work at one specific resolution and dont look good at other resolutions.

If you are using Windows XP or Vista there are built in features to help people with special needs.

Have a look at your menus for an option called Accessibility and there are some things you may find useful on there.

One of them is called Magnifier which may help.

There is a web page giving some advice on using Windows for people with special needs

If you are using Internet Explorer Version 7 there is a small percent sign in the bottom right, like 100%.

If you click on the percent sign (or the small arrow to the right of it) you can change the size of the text in your browser.

This is only for the browser, but it may help.

The problem with larger screens is that the resolution usually goes up as well so the text never gets any bigger.

Also as I said, TFT screens are designed to work at a certain resolutions and dont like being used at other resolutions.

The other thing to note is that 17" screens and 19" screens both use the same resolution, which is 1024x768 for "square" screens. Widescreen is a different resolution but still the same on 17" and 19".

So while a 19" may be a slightly larger area you will gain very little.

Once you go up to 20" and 22" screens the resolution changes to 1680x1050 so the text gets no bigger, if anything it gets smaller.

You are FAR better using features built into Windows and other software to make the text bigger than to play around with screen resolutions.
A quick fix is to hold CTRL and wiggle the mouse wheel, or hold CRTL and + together.

If you are on XP you can choose options to make text clearer.

Start - all programs - accessories - accessibility - accessibility wizard.

Job done thx to everyone
