Help! I have downloaded a film using a torrent, it has saved all the bits in a directory it has a series of files like this:
vmt-bnk.xvid.nfo
ditto. r00 -> r49
ditto. rar
ditto. sfv
I have NTI CD and DVD maker 7 it has an option to create what it calls a DVD Video_TS It then asks you to select the files to record etc, unfortunately it does not see any of the above. Has anyone got any idea how I use the above files to create an actual DVD? Thanks

The r files are called rar files, and this is basically your movie broken up into smaller segments.

The best thing to do is download a program called winrar and all you do is select the r files and click on extract. You will then end up with just 1 avi file containing the whole movie, which you can then burn to DVD using the DVD Maker 7 program you have.

To get the free version of Winrar, search a torrent site such as www.mininova.org.

It is really easy to do.

Ok thanks, I have tried making a DVD/CD with a ready made avi and my player does not recognise it. I do have the option to create a "Data DVD" would that work?
Once you have unpacked the win rar file you need to convert the avi file to a dvd file that will be accepted by a video player. that is unless you have a player that accepts divx format.

Google for avi to dvd converter and you will see a host of programmes. One free one I have seen is this one;

http://www.dvdflick.net/

Use this programme to convert the files and then burn to disc
I use 7zip to extract rar files, which is a free programme, and so think for converting to dvd, this is also freeware.

Pauln90m, downloaded DvdFlick, ran it, looked easy to use, went through the motions of creating a DVD, it chugged along for about 3 hours and then said "completed successfully". Now I have NTI DVD maker, do I select DATA DVD or DVD video? where is the file it created? It seems to do a great job but just falls short at the end. Thanks
