Translation sites?

My son has asked me if I know of a website which does translation.
He wants to be able to type in or "paste" a passage of prose and have in translated, free of course!!
Any ideas please

Google a search for free translation. There are lots of them available.
Bear in mind that online translators are notoriously bad at translating. You should always get a second opinion form someone who knows the language.

A site I use is http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr

Google have been working on an advanced translation service for a while now (machine learning, code-named Rosetta Stone).

An early implementation can be found here:

It's usually as good as or better than the rest.
Here's a good free one that doe's English-Polish and vice versa
