Do you mean that very white thing just to the north east of an island? (5945'04.07" N 4353'18.70" W) It looks to me as though it's an iceberg and the "shadow" is part of it underwater.

Thanks for the answer, i'm glad someone is interested enough to of had a look! However, no, it isn't a coastal feature. What I'm refering to is just about dead center of the country. The references I have for you are - 70.31.18.99 N. 40.02.05.24 W. with Eye alt. at about 400mi. From that setting you can then zoom in, and or out, for a better view. It's a sort of orange colour, I'm just facinated as to what the heck it can be. I wonder if there's a way of asking Google what they know of it. I hope you find it and let me know your ideas on it. Strange!
This might be the place to ask ;)
(and I don`t mean that as in, asking here is the wrong place)

I see what you mean. Could they be the result of incompletely aligned satellite photos? You could post your question here:

or in one of the other categories.

Here's a fun one at Lima Airport, Peru (some great parking!!):

1200'56.90" S
7706'51.81" W

Oh thanks SteveD, it looks like some kind of expensive attempt at an entry into the Guiness Book of Records ! I'm still smiling. Anyway, yep, I think your explanation holds water so to speak but it's strange with those clouds over it and that strange textured surface. I don't know. Maybe there will be more ideas submited. I hope so. I took teashes advice, told 'em my e-mail address, user name , password and all that, opened their e-mail got accepted onto the site only to find I wasn't alowed to make a posting. A bit miffed realy! Probably my fault though, something I've missed. Anyway we'll see what the future brings eh?
mmm, let me have a look when i get home
