I am using Spybot and scan regularly. However, today when it reaches a file called CoolSearchwww.Feat2DLL my computer goes back to start up. Also, coincidentally, my System Restore has stopped working. And . . . . loading web pages is now taking ages. Hair-pulling time here!!!!!!! Any help appreciated. Thanks

This is a nasty stubborn piece of spyware.

This free tool should get rid of the blighter

Thank you Ethel. I downloaded the cwshredder tool. After scanning, it told me that CoolwwwSearch.Feat DLL was NOT present on my computer.!!! So I scanned with Spybot again and . . . . . . the blighter is still in there. System Restore still does not work but my computer has certainly speeded up . . . . . Ah well, the joys of computers. Many thanks again
Do a manual search (start - search) for coolsearch and see what comes up.

It would be interesting to see where it is.

OK - will do. Will report back with my results. Thank you
Okee dokee - I'm going to bed now, but will definitely look in tomorrow.

I hate that coolweb, I really do.

Sweet dreams Ethel. I did a manual search and it did not find CoolSearch anywhere. The little bu$$er is well hidden. As long as it keeps sleeping, I may be able to get along by ignoring it. Although it has disabled my Spybot and System Restore function. Grrrrrrrrrrr
Try booting into Safe Mode (press F8 during the boot sequence) and running Spybot and/or the removal tool.
Excellent advice there. It should clear it.

Fingers crossed.

Opened in Safe Mode - ran Spybot Search & Destroy and it completed the scan with no problems.

Holding my breath, I then later tried Spybot again and that CoolWWWSearch stopped the scan and switched off my computer AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, I will live with it for now, and do a hard drive swipe a little later. Thanks for your responses. Happy computing
No need to be hasty.
