Sorry to be pestering for help again, but my PC packed up and I lost all my programs. I've managed to reinstall most. I have a private email address, but use Googlemail for work. Before, there was a little envelope icon by the clock, but this has gone and I can't find out how to retrieve it. I have made a desktop shortcut, but the envelope took me straight to the G inbox, which was much easier and quicker. Can anyone help, please ?

Bless you, Ethel. It took only a few seconds to install and will save me a lot of hassle. Thanks for your quick response, too.
Glad you're sorted.

Are you aware that GMail now has MailFetcher - it acts like Outlook, so fetches all your other emails, and you can send the replies from within GMail too.

Hope I'm not 'teaching granny how to suck eggs' but I found it extremely easy to set up - much easier that Outlook.

Yes, I did know this. I prefer to use Mozilla Thunderbird for most of my emails as it sorts out the junk very well and learns quickly. Thanks again !
