It could be a number of things. What pc is it? Make / model

It may be either your hard drive, it could also be your power supply fan it may be faulty.

Are you sure it's coming from the computer and not the monitor? Old style CRT monitors often make crackly static-discharge noises when the video signal cuts out.

If you suspect it is the monitor, it's time to invest in a nice LCD screen!

Could it be that someone is playing a trick on you. Check the Sounds setting for Shutdown in the Control Panel

sorry to bother you again. but the sound is coming from the speakers after i have shut down the computer as if the power is still on
the monitor is lcd flat screen
