I want to return a parcel which is a jumper from a catalogue. I can't print off a paid returns label as I don't have a working printer at the moment.
If I took it to the Post Office, how much would it cost to send it 2nd class ?
The parcel weighs 380 g.
I've tried to find out online but it's too complicated for me.

If you have a place that does Hermes pick up, in some of them they have a machine where you can put all your details, pay using your card and print the label out. Don’t know if it’s cheaper than the post office.
If the dimensions don't exceed 45 x 35 x 16cm, it will cost you £3.20.

For a parcel which doesn't exceed 61 x 46 x 46cm, it will be £5.30.

I do know about Hermes parcel shops that can print the label there are 3 very close to where I live, but apart from the cost of the jumper, I've already paid £3.99 for delivery, so I'm looking for the cheapest way to return it.
Which company are you returning the jumper to?
Question Author
Chris, do they not take into account the weight of the parcel?
Question Author
Chris, Damart.
>>> do they not take into account the weight of the parcel?

My figures are for a parcel weighing 380g, derived from here:
https://www.royalmail.com/price-finder
I’ve had a look and it says £2.90 at Hermes place, with no signature.
Question Author
sherrardk is that for any weight and size of the parcel?

Chris, the parcel is 30 x 30 cm.
Under 1kg and under £20 in value (I guessed, I have no idea how much a jumper weighs). Unless they’re ginormous parcels, the Hermes people don’t seem bothered about physical size.
Further to Sherrardk's suggestion, this suggests that you can use Hermes' 'print in store' option for returns to Damart:

Have you tried entering 'Damart' into the search field here, and then filling in your details, to see where it takes you?

>>> Chris, the parcel is 30 x 30 cm

£3.20 then with Royal Mail, as per my post above.
Damart usually put a return label in the parcel with the invoice. As they quite a lot of their merchandise is aimed at the older market, I don’t think they would expect everyone to print off returns.
Question Author
I've looked everywhere I can. It seems there are 3 ways of returning it 2 with Hermes 1 if you can print the label yourself and 2 take it to a shop where you can print the label or 3 the post office. What I find confusing is, it seems to depend on the size of the parcel, the weight of the parcel the value of the parcel I don't know how to print a label in a shop so though it would be easier to just hand in at the post office, but if they say that will be £5.50 or something, then I don't want to pay that much. So I still can't work out the cheapest way to return it.
Give them a ring and arrange for the courier to pick it up.

Question Author
margarettom A lot of catalogue companies offer free returns, Damart don't. It doesn't occur to them that their main customers are elderly and can't get out or understand how to use the printer in the shop.
^^^ I looked at that too, Mamya, but it occurred to me that they might say that Barsel needs to print the return label, and attach it to the parcel, before the courier can accept it.
Question Author
Mamya, if you read the small print it says calls are charged at 13p a min. You could be holding on for 15 to 20 mins before someone answers the phone. I expect you would then have to pay for your returns label by giving your card details over the phone and I try to avoid doing that.
I'm afraid when I rang them I would inform them that they should attach a returns label to the delivery note as most of their competitors do.

They've been in the business long enough.
Thanks for the tip off, that's dreadful customer service.
