I have found an old , well preserved, CD of the above.
I have run it but nothing much seems to be happening, maybe not compatible with my Dell Inspiron 660. Can't afford the £100 for the other Microsoft Word ?

Have you tried running the compatibility troubleshooter? IF you right click on the .exe file it might be one of menu options or you can get to it via the properties.
(you can also get to the troubleshooter by right-clicking on the shortcut to the program)
put in 'Open office' it is free and does everything Microsoft Office does.

Sorry I am not very good at all with computer technology, can some take me through the steps easily please ?
Open Office is a good idea, but if you want to continue with Works...

...whatever it is that you are clicking (or double-clicking) to run the program, single click using the right mouse button instead of the left, and the menu that appears will contain either the option to "troubleshoot compatibility" or "properties" and you should left-click on one of those.
