ive used a phone ext lead for 3 years with no probs
You can use an extension lead fine, but the microfilter that you get has to be connected directly to the phone socket. So the sequence needs to go phone socket, microfilter, extension lead, pc, not phone socket, extension lead, microfilter, pc. Hope this helps!
I have mine set up in the following order: phone socket, extension lead, surge protector, filter (one to phone the other to PC), to USB modem.
I've never had any attenuation problems and am always on maximum 1 meg speeds with no disconnections (thanx Supanet!)
