Before I spend out on a Tablet computer what does it do that a Netbook is incapable of? I was thinking of buying the Samsung 7" priced at £148 - £30 cashback? from Carphone warehouse.

"Before I spend out on a Tablet computer what does it do that a Netbook is incapable of?"
I think you have that a bit backwards. Most Netbooks can do more than most Tablets. The most obvious difference is that a Tablet doesn't have a keyboard or a hard disk and can normally only connect via WiFi (or in some case 3G) Many Netbooks can use a wired connection as well as wireless, and they usually have more RAM and a hard disk as well. But the the difference is becoming fuzzier by the day.

Maybe I thought it was like the Kindle where you can download thousands of free books including scientific ones?
In order to answer this we would need to know what you intend to use your computer for.

Most people just surf the internet, buy stuff on ebay, and check their emails.
That little Samsung tablet will be able to do all that for you. I have seen them in Tesco and they are undeniably neat little things. But that tiny screen might be a tad tiring on the eyes if you had to use one for a long time.

Also it depends on what you are used to. Personally I find using a touch screen a bit annoying, as I have been using a proper computer since the mid 90's. I prefer a real keyboard and a mouse. I know its controversial to say this but I actually prefer Windows as well !

But, again, its up to the individual. Find a friend with a tablet, borrow it and see if you get on with it. If you use a touch-screen Mobile phone, than you probably know what to expect.

Notebooks are just another word for a small laptop. I have a super Acer Aspire One, that I use when I am away from home, mostly when staying in my caravan. It has an 11.5 inch screen, which is just about right. I have a Three Network dongle and I am able to do everything that I can when I am at home. The exception to this is that the Acer doesn't have a DCD drive. But Tablets don't either.

Its horses for course I'm afraid,

Hope this has been of some help !

I thought I answered that in my previous posts. ie to download scientific books and literature what Kindle does very well.
"download scientific books and literature what Kindle does very well."
Well you can do that pretty easily on any device - PC, laptop, netbook or tablet.
If they are in Kindle format, you can use the free Kindle reader software which is available for just about every conceivable platform. Adobe reader and other pdf readers are also available for most platforms, as are other E-reader programs.
is it a touch screen keyboard pop up on these tablets ?
All tablets offer a popup keyboard, you can get physical keyboards for some.
