This past month or so I've emailed quite a few strangers about family history (offering information, mainly) and hardly any replies. It's suggested that responses are ending up in my junk mail - but where do I find it?

If you look in the left hand column, beneath your inbox, you'll find a number of other boxes, such as Drafts, Templates, Sent, and Junk.
But if you are e-mailing total strangers, it's more likely that you e-mails are ending up in their junk or spam folders.

You can change the way junk is handled by Thunderbird, by right-clicking your account, choosing settings, and selecting Junk Settings in the left hand window.
As a reverse of that you e-mails to these people may have ended up in THEIR junk mail?

Thanks rojash. I've now managed to exhibit a Junk folder in LH pane of main window.
But as you say, puternut the problem seems to lie at the receiver's end. I s there any way I can signal that my msg is genuine?
