I am thinking of changing my provider, I am at present with Virgin, but someone has recommended Talk Talk, as they are much cheaper. Can anyone advise if they get good service from TT, or recommend any other provider.

I'm not interested in Sky.

I'm with Talk Talk, I haven't had many problems but when I have the call centre staff have always been really helpful and friendly. They have always given a call back a couple of days later to make sure everything is still okay too.

I wouldnt touch them with a barge pole, it took them six weeks to provide a modem, we now have 5 as every time they mistakenly disconnected us they sent us a new one and even charged us a reconnection fee, nothing but problems!!! if you do go with them, make sure they have modems in stock. We were only with them for 12 months!

We finally ditched them when they phoned us to ask if we would like to use the upgraded system they have installed with no break in internet access, we said yes, next day we find we have been disconnected for two weeks!! Final straw!!
Not sure why it would throw a spanner in the works.

You can ask about any ISP in the world and you'll find people that have had problems with them and you'll find people that will swear they are the best in the world, generally it's luck of the draw, if everything works then all good, if there are problems then it's not good. It can and does happen with all ISPs.
i changed from bt to tt. so far no problems !
I agree with Chuck, if you gonna wait for the perfect service provider, you will have a long wait, im with Sky now, so far no problems at all!! :-)
im with sky for my broadband, telephone and tv package..no problems whatsoever...
Asking the opinions of a few people on here isn't statistically reliable - you need the opinions of thousands of people for the results to mean much. The Which? website gives just such feedback and TalkTalk doesn't do well. The recommended providers are Utility Warehouse, Plusnet and O2. But, not surprisingly, not quite the cheapest.
As above, it's a case of 'suck it and see' to a certain extent. I'm getting Virgin broadband installed on Friday... not the cheapest but the best option for what I wanted, which was a decent download speed, unlimited monthly downloads and no landline or tv...
It's all on here ....

I must be one of the few who have had no trouble with TT. I changed to them from OneTel several years ago. Fortunately I haven't had to contact them for help so perhaps I have been lucky. TT are also one of the cheapest.
Hi, my friend had TT and had nothing but trouble from it but as others have said you can get problems with any of them. My friend has since changed to Sky and got good service as have I. The thing with TT is that it may be cheaper monthly but they charge a connection fee to join them and a disconnection fee to leave so are they really cheaper in the long term.

Thank you all for your answers, you've certainly given me a lot to think about!
Just to rant here as it seems semi appropriate.

I'd advise against BT. They failed to send me either the last bill nor any reminder, and the first I know of a problem is when they "restricted" (i.e. take away service from) the broadband and telephone. I guess if you have fallen for the DD evil then that sort of thing may not be a problem for you, but if you don't like others being able to dip into your finances willy nilly, BT seems to be one to avoid. They seem not to understand customers are supopsed to be valuable to them but are happy to bully by removing the service they were under contract to supply having made no reasonable attempt to contact and inform their long standing customer of a problem.
