I only know of one hotel in Barcelona that I have stayed in and it is right off the Ramblas. Hotel California. However, the rooms are on the upper floors and it is a walkup. It is reasonable and quiet and right in the middle of things. You can google Hotel California, Baracelona and get to their website. Another option is staying in Sitges, 30k from Barcelona, train every 15 min into Barcelona. Hotel Romantic is a great place to stay, reasonable and within walking distance from the train station. I usually opt for that and take the train into Barcelona during the day and evening and then return to Sitges. The hotel has a breakfast buffet to die for. Sitges is a walking town and has a lot of resturants and beaches a charm.
How much do you want to pay?

Arts Hotel Barcelona.....treat yourselves..........superb.
We had a great 4 days at the Continental Palacete. Its just north of Placa de Catalunya, but if you want to be on Las Ramblas, their sister hotel (the Continental), is at the top, just south of Placa de Catalunya. Its a bit quirky(!), very pink! but is clean and the staff are very helpful. There is a 24 hr buffet, which you could live on, but probably won't! They also have free drinks (tea coffee, wine, beer etc) and bottles of water, so you can just grab a fresh bottle before going out for the day. I'd go back there no problem.

I can recommend the Expo (nr Sants station) very nice and modern and clean.

My sisters and I (65 - 69yo) also stayed at the Arc de Rambla, tatty but central and next door to a knocking shop, it was a laugh. We had a suite on the top floor.

Of the hotel OR the "knocking shop" ;-)
We stayed at the Hotel Monegal which is at the top of Las Ramblas. We were a group of 30 something women and found it great as it was so central.
We stayed at The Hesperia Tower Hotel just outside the city. Although the surroundings are not exactly luxury, the hotel itself was amazing, even in the *cheap* room we had. It's got a lovely bar and there is a well regarded restaurant in the top of the tower (although we didn't eat there). There is a metro station accross the road so access to other areas was really easy and we had the best nights sleep in a long time there. I wanted to steal the shower too.

We got a really good deal through Lastminute.com. It might be worth a look.
