Hi, firsly aplologies if this is in the wrong category,
I'm doing some text in a circle shape using wordart. I've manged to get the text into the shape going round the edge just as I wanted but no matter what size text I start with when I make the circle bigger the text gets bigger.
Is there a way to make the text smaller once my circle is the desired size?
Thanks

you should be able to click on the text box (not the shape) and then adjust as you would with general fonts.
You can change the font size by double-clicking on the wordart to bring up the wordart text box again, no?
I've just tried and it does change the size of the circle as soon as you change the text size...

brb :)
OK, it seems that the circle tool will always try and make your text fit all the way round the circle and adjust either the font size or the circle size so it does as soon as you adjust the other one.

I've just been looking at it some more and the only way I can seem to make it smaller is by adding more text. I'm sure there must be a way to do it.
you could try right clicking, select 'format word art', then under the 'size' tab check the box that says lock aspect ratio.....?
The problem is that to make a full circle the tet will need to be a certain size otherwise you will need to have huge spaces to make it go all the way round the circle.

To that end I guess you could type your text with, for example, one space between each letter and two or three between each word. you'd have to experiment to get the result you want.
i've just had a play around with word art and circles and it can be done in one way or the other. it really depends what final look you are aiming for.

yes I think experimenting with it is the way to go ...thanks very much for your help x
Copy the Word Art to Word & stretch the arrows at the centre of dotted line.

thanks for your answer jaydah ...but that just seems to alter the size of the circle rather than just the text?
I've really looked into this and I don 't think there's a way to do it, just for reference you can alter the character spacing on the wordart toolbar which spreads the text out a bit and did make it seem a bit smaller.
The text automatically adjusts to fit round the perimeter of the circle so I think the only way is to add more text or as was said before put spaces in the text.
I have another query on word art but will add as a new question if anyone can help. Thanks again
